If one item can stack and the amount of items that stack together depends on the item type, "big" things ( weapons, armor etc.) can't be stacked at all, with potions and other small things allowing big stacks. Each item or stack of one item takes a single pack slot (as in the Infinity Engine games). The number of pack slots available to each character is sixteen, and any additional items must be stored in the stash. Every party member has his or her own pack marked as "theirs" on the shared inventory screen, even though it's effectively a common pool of items. It presents itself as a strategic pool of items, that you can access while exploring. The packs are accessible by all party members, at any time, except in combat. Player packs are used to carry essential items that are not equipped. The secondary set is always shown equipped on the character unless the weapons would go on the back and the character is wearing a cloak/cape. This includes weapon sets, that you can swap between during combat and slots for consumables. Equipment slots Įquipped slots show what your character is currently wearing, wielding and in-hand ready to use. You can equip it, use it immediately, put it in your pack, or just chuck it in the stash. When you acquire new gear, you have the option of placing it wherever you'd like as long as there's room for it, deciding who carries what is an important aspect of inventory management.
